We enjoyed our stop at Richie Z's wait staff was friendly, atmosphere was inviting and food was great. We enjoyed the Mac and cheese bite appetizers, entrees and then the cornbread pudding for dessert.

Outstanding food and service. I tried the pulled pork and chicken quarter, my wife had the brisket and smoked turkey. It was the best BBQ I've had north of Texas. I will absolutely be going back and I highly recommend to anyone who would ask.

Came to Pierre to visit with my wife, who is currently working at a local hospital. We’ve been to few different places for lunch and dinner and really haven’t been impressed with the food. But Richie Z’s Brickhouse was easily the best place we been to. We had wings and brisket and we weren’t disappointed. Excellent customer service as well.

I almost shed a tear when I sipped the sweet tea. I got closer when I sampled the brisket. The mac & cheese pushed me further. The BBQ sauce almost did it. The final straw was the beans, though. God above, I've not had a better supper in my time living in SD. I don't know the words to offer high enough (fair & due) praise for this restaurant. Christ himself must have anointed the kitchen 🙏

Ate it ALL!! So sorry no pics… had the “Booty and Belly” sandwich (pork belly & pork butt) and mac ‘n cheese. Gave my friend complimentary corn bread and ice cream for his birthday! Chow was great. Even asked for a 1/2 lb of the pork belly to go and they accommodated! Great variety of sauces. Highly recommend! 👍🏻😍

Food 4+, waitress seemed a little like she couldn't wait to leave, temperature in restaurant seemed like it was in low to mid 60s. People that were eating comfortably there had jackets or hoodies on. Temperature of a restaurant or bar is for comfort of customers not workers. For thi reason alone, I will probably never go back.

Great food, Pretty good service...considering. Every restaurant is short staffed including here but that's the new normal, so still five stars. All the locals fill this place but who knows better than the locals where the best places to eat are??

We had a great experience. As a group of 11 people we expectedly had a long wait for downstairs but we ended up coming to the bar and was seated and helped immediately. I have never been inside this place before. But when I work I do order their food sometimes through Doordash and I can confidently say that the quality of their food is incredible. I ordered a brisket slider, Mac and cheese, and onion rings. Everything was tasty and the brisket was tender and juicy. The fact they are on Doordash is incredible too. everything I ordered was still warm too, will have to convince my friends to come here sometime. Props to the owner and the staff.

Had lunch here with my office staff, first time eating here. The food is the best, I eat bbq from all over the USA and this beats out Kansas City and a lot of the southern places. I am so amazed how Pierre SD has better places to eat than Sioux Falls, there is no bbq place in the state that is better than this place. Thank you.

We stopped here on our way through town because it was one of the few restaurants open before 4. All the food was excellent! The waiter even brought us a sample of the rub to taste. Super quick and friendly service. We'll stop again!

I’m speaking as customer and employee of the brickhouse; the atmosphere is the best feeling I’ve ever gotten from a restaurant, it cozy and laid back, the service is great and normally fast, the crew is so friendly and hardworking. As a customer I love the food and the wide span of the menu, the energy of the workers and build is phenomenal, it’s always so clean. Now as a employee, this is the best crew and management I’ve worked under in my 5 years in the work force, the crew is bubbly and friendly, there’s never a bad moment here at the brickhouse. 10/10 highly recommended in both customer and worker wise.

Holy smokes this place was awesome! It was our first time here, we are from the Black Hills and came to Pierre for a few days. Service was very good, the drinks were potent (Jim gave the bartender 2 thumbs up) and the food was amazing! Hubby had the Pitmaster and I had the Smoked brisket Philly. The hoagies were super fresh/soft with the meat on both very tender, tasty and oven hot. The $2.50 rib was very tender with an excellent BBQ sauce and the side salad had fresh ingredients and was a large portion considering it was a side. Next time we come to Pierre we will definitely come back for more!!

I'm not sure why this place calls itself a BBQ joint they definitely are not that. Microwaved dog food!! Only reason for the two stars is because the sweet tea and the service were good. My advise is to go elsewhere.

Didn't get my full order. Meat wasn't left in microwave long enough although, you wouldn't know it by how dry it was. The pulled pork was so dry I had to drink after every bite just to get it to wash down. Same with the brisket, the chicken was alright. When I called to inform them of my displeasure. well, they seemed less than interested On a positive note the dogs ate well... For the price we paid I would have expected more very disappointed...

Was on a little road trip from Michigan stipped in and had dinner. I got prime rib and it's was by far the best i had in a long time staff was amazing. As we were leaving the owner stopped and talked to us he was great this is definitely going to be on the list to visit again soon. Oh my, this BBQ was just perfection. The smoked brisket and Mac & cheese was oooh we gooey deliciousness. Enjoyed the Chipotle Fire wings that lit my mouth on fire with goodness. Coming back for the cornbread. The service is spectacular, they really make you feel at home. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

What a great place to get some BBQ. It's not very often you find a place that can throw a table for eight together on a Saturday night. The food came super quick. EVERYONE cleaned up their plates. The ambience is very reminiscent of the old VFW. Although the food has taken a big step upward. All the different food creations are top notch. I had the best prime rib of my life! We will be coming back here next time we are in Pierre.

Wasn't expecting much for a BBQ joint in S. Dakota...us Southerners take our BBQ seriously. But the pulled pork and the brisket were excellent! Good BBQ doesn't need sauce and this BBQ definitely was great without it (although I used some on my sandwich).

I lived in Texas for twenty years...and really miss great southern bbq. Came here hoping to get some good bbq. I got the brisket which was tender and good, although it would have been better if it were smoked. My boyfriend got the full rack of beef ribs and that must've been one tiny cow!! The beef ribs had a wangy taste to them, like they were old and had been reheated in the microwave...the meat looked almost that gray-green color that makes you think twice. For sixty bucks, I would at least hope to get some fresher ribs. I will say that the burger that my boyfriend's son ordered was really good and so were the fries. Also the service was exceptional for this area. But the menu items are definitely over-priced.

The restaurant was laid out very nicely, great decor and very clean. The staff wasn't very interested in checking in and it took quite a while until we could even place an order, and even longer to receive our food. The food was good, nothing really stood out as outstanding, but it also was not bad. The menu included a wealth of options, which could be paired down to really concentrate on perfecting some key BBQ staples. Overall the place was decent, but I doubt I will be going out of the way to eat there again.

It was our first visit to Richie's. First of all, prices were higher there, then on their website. We had the Pick one meat dinner plate with Brisket for 18.00. There was only 4 pieces, 3/4 of an inch by 4 inches. It was good but it was probably less then 6 ounces. Thank goodness we got 2 sides with it. Good portion of Cole slaw and a baked potato and cornbread. That's what filled us up. Won't be a regular stop when we're in Pierre next time.

Food was good. I had the potato salad for a side though and that was not good, not sure what it’s base is. Maybe vinegar? I wouldn’t recommend it. Frog legs and brisket were excellent.

Very fast and friendly service. Food was amazing. We ordered the chislic for appetizer. It came very quick and was so yummy. Hands down best pulled pork. Delicious cornbread. My son tried the kids ribs and said they were delicious. I would eat here everyday if I could. My husband tried the boss with raspberry glaze. He said the bacon was thick and the provolone cheese with it was perfect. Cant wait to come back.

Would not eat there again, service was poor( no small plates for our appitizers to be eatten on, said they were out . Just went there tonight and had the worst service ever!! They ran out of the Prime Rib that we wanted so had to reorder, but I didn’t get what I ordered after 2 hours of waiting!! Then our waitress was carrying her baby around while serving our food!! Really!!! Not sure who owns or runs this place but WOW!! Can’t believe that your service can be so bad!

Delicious food, excellent service! I was pleasantly surprised to find authentic tasting, home cooked BBQ in a town this far away from the Mason-Dixon line. Heck they even had sweet tea. It wasn't quite as diabeetus sweet as the liquid sugar you find in the South but it was delicious all the same! And they also had beignets, (Louisiana donuts, basically) and frankly I was astounded that anyone in South Dakota even knew what a beignet WAS, let alone finding a place that actually served them!! My only regret was that I was too full from my delicious meal, i didn't have any room for beignets!! I'll just have to come back and try again another time😂

We were served an old T-bone that were normally priced at 24 dollars, but he was selling them for 12 dollars. We were told he was trying to get rid of them. They should of never been served. To his credit he did not charge us for the meals.

Good food, awesome atmosphere, clean and friendly staff. Would go again. Only thing I would recommend to owners is to redo the menu so it has a cleaner look. Edit: They revamped their menu. Looks great! Their rubs and sauces are now available locally and are awesome.

Could've built a house with the brisket. This was the "let's give it a second chance" visit, and it was horrible. Please do not waste your money here. Baked beans must be from a can. Brisket was just dry, hard chunks of something on a bun. Total bummer.

Small portions for what you pay, hickory smoked advertised as Texas bar be que. Would have been possibly better if mesquite was used. This bar be que was average at best, and way worse than the best Texas bar be que.

Richie Z's is a great addition to Pierre! They have an extensive menu with something for everyone. The atmosphere is also really great. They really did well renovating the space. I would highly recommend!

The Big Rich was extremely delicious and decent priced. Rich was an excellent host, ditto with Tommie as our waitress and Karla as our cook. The dining room has a peaceful setting, with great country music and mood lighting for a great dining experience. The staff was very attentive to my disabled son's needs and was very patient. The elevator was a big plus. From a scale of 1 to 5, I would rate Richie Z's a 7. I will definitely come back and recommend this place to friends and family.

Clever adaptation of the old place. Many good vibes in the space. One of the best briskets I've had! Very reasonably priced with large portions including tasty complimentary sides. The BBQ is not overpowering and the meats are moist without being greasy. Thumbs up.👍👍👌 I think you'll like this place.

The food was ok. They need to try some of their own dishes and improve on the overall flavor of the dishes. Some of them were very plain and lacked much flavor. The atmosphere is really great. It's on the basement which is a drawback. It's nice to be able to look out the windows when you eat. The BBQ flare is right on key and they do a good job there. The staff is always friendly and food was prepared quickly. Overall it's a nice place, they just need to improve on the flavor of some of their dishes. The Pulled Pork Nachos needs some work in the flavor department.
